We all have too much to do.

Having too much to do, or a feeling of overwhelm, is the most common form of stress in todayโ€™s world. There are simply not enough hours in the day to do all the things we need to do.

Here are a few tips to effectively deal with having too much to do:

๐Ÿ‘‰ Make a list. When you write down all that you have to do you get a clear visual picture of what you need to do. This gives you a sense of perspective, and often you can find the cause of your stress.

๐Ÿ‘‰ Prioritize. Once you write down everything you have to do, itโ€™s time to prioritize. Put everything on your list into an order that focuses on whatโ€™s urgent, what needs to be done immediately, and what is most important for you. These are the tasks that give you a sense of fulfillment and happiness. They help you achieve your long-term goals. Prioritize in a way that ensures that the most important things get done. I suggest starting with the 3 most important, and if you complete these, then move on to the next 3 most important.

๐Ÿ‘‰ Make Time for What Matters Most. Think about the things that are most important to you, the things that you would regret if you didnโ€™t do them. When you get older and look back on your life, what are you going to care about? What are you going to regret not doing? Make time in the day to do whatโ€™s most important for you – the things that you value. Finding a way to make time for these things, you will feel more accomplished and fulfilled.

๐Ÿ‘‰ Change Your Self-Talk. Avoid saying things like, โ€˜Iโ€™m so busyโ€™, โ€˜Iโ€™m so stressed outโ€™, or โ€˜I donโ€™t have enough timeโ€™.

Why?

Because your unconscious mind gets that message loud and clear. And it will put you into fight or flight mode. This creates a vicious cycle, where youโ€™re more stressed and less productive.

Instead, you want to say the direct opposite. Tell yourself things like:

I am calm.

I am in control.

I am focused.

I am effective.

There is more than enough time to do everything I need to do.

Even if you donโ€™t believe these, when you say them, your body will begin to feel calmer. Youโ€™ll feel more in control. Youโ€™ll be able to think more clearly, and youโ€™ll be more productive.

๐Ÿ‘‰ Learn to Say No. When youโ€™ve got too much to do, the last thing you want is to take on more. When people ask us to do something, we often say yes without thinking about the consequences. We donโ€™t think about what it is really going to involve. Then later we begin to regret it, feel resentful, and even feel taken advantage of.

Remember that to empower yourself,
