With all that’s going on in the world right now, gratitude is high on the list of most people’s values. It’s getting quite a lot of mindshare, and rightly so. Gratitude is the expression of appreciation for what one has. It is a recognition of value independent of monetary worth. Spontaneously generated from within, it is an affirmation of goodness and warmth.
When we get a hold of the idea that everything we have is a gift—and we express appreciation for the gift of life itself—we shift our perspective away from what we don’t have to what we do have. In appreciating what we have, we invite important changes to take place in our brain and body. Expressing gratitude on a daily basis provides many benefits.
