As we wrap up Q3 and step into the final stretch of the year, I find it’s the perfect time to pause and reflect. Life moves quickly, and it’s easy to get caught up in what’s next without noticing how far we’ve come. Taking a little time to check in can give us the clarity we need to finish the year strong.
Start with a personal reflection. How do you feel about the past few months? What were the highs, the wins, the moments that mattered? And what were the lows, the challenges that stretched you or reminded you where you still want to grow?
Next, think about the goals you set earlier in the year. Maybe you called them KPIs, OKRs, or simply intentions. Did you move closer to them? Are you on track? If so, celebrate those wins because they matter more than you might realize. If you’re not where you hoped to be, that’s okay too. Awareness is the first step to making a change.
From there, consider what support you might need in the next quarter. None of us can do this alone. Sometimes it’s a resource, sometimes a mentor or coach, and sometimes it’s simply asking for help. Identifying those needs now can prevent frustration later.
It’s also helpful to look at what’s been working. Which habits or practices have made your life easier or more fulfilling? Name them and keep them going. At the same time, be honest about what hasn’t worked. Reflection without honesty doesn’t get us very far.
Finally, turn this reflection into an action plan for Q4. Write down a few clear, measurable goals. Keep them aligned with your values, not just your to-do list. Outline simple steps to help you get there and consider sharing them with someone who can hold you accountable. And don’t forget to celebrate your progress along the way. Even the smallest milestones deserve recognition.
The year isn’t over yet. In fact, the last quarter can be the most powerful one. Let’s close it with clarity, intention, and gratitude for how far we’ve come.
