Here’s a truth about leadership we don’t talk about enough:
It’s not about having all the answers.
It’s about staying open to growth — and that starts with knowing yourself.

If you want to build your leadership capacity, here’s a simple way to get started:

1. Reflect on what’s working… and what isn’t.
We all have strengths. We all have areas that challenge us.
Take a few minutes to ask yourself:
👉 When am I leading at my best?
👉 When do I tend to struggle?

Or better yet, ask someone you trust. Self-awareness always comes first.

2. Pay attention to your patterns.
Think about a recent moment when you felt stretched as a leader.
How did you respond?
What thoughts, feelings, or actions kicked in?
Noticing your patterns is the first step toward shifting them.

3. Choose one small change.
What would a healthier, more aligned response look like next time?
Maybe you ask for help.
Maybe you give clearer direction.
Maybe you give yourself a little more space to think.

Small steps matter more than big declarations.

4. Create accountability.
Growth won’t stick without a plan to check in on it.
Set a reminder on your calendar.
Or ask a trusted friend to check in with you.
Reflect, adjust, and keep moving forward.

5. Be kind to yourself.
Leadership growth takes time — and lots of grace.
There’s no perfect version of leadership.
There’s only the practice of showing up and trying again, day after day.

The best leaders I know aren’t perfect.
They’re self-aware. They’re intentional.
And they keep learning.
