
The theme of Mental Health Awareness for 2023 is , “Look Around, Look Within.”
The aim of Mental Health Professionals surrounding this theme is to, “emphasize the ways that our surroundings—like safe and stable housing, healthy homes, lives, neighborhoods and cities, and nature—affect our mental health.”
The urgent need to raise awareness and reduce the bias and stigma that surrounds behavioral health issues continue to be the focus and importance in helping to highlight issues of mental illness and addiction.
Since I personally know a number of people struggling with their mental health right now, it seems like a great time to take some action by being an ambassador for mental health in one of the following ways:
Volunteer at or make a monetary donation to Mental Health America (MHA) or National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI).
Be supportive of a friend or loved one who is struggling with a mental health condition.
Help raise mental health awareness on social media by engaging with platforms that support mental health causes.
Pay attention to your language.
Learn about mental health.
It is also important to note that mental health issues are common and treatable. If you or someone you know is struggling with a mental health issue, it is important to seek professional help.
